BlogJolt: Did Dick & Jane Run Away? :
While reading Holly's Corner Blog I came across a great post, Did Dick and Jane Run Away? She makes some great points about school today. I've been struggling with what will be best for my daughter who is 3.5 right now. Checking out all the schools in the area, reviewing test scores, parent participation, etc. I have a friend who is teaching in a neighborhood where 80% of the students come from a household who doesn't even speak english, so you can imagine how difficult it is for the child to learn. Well getting to the point, the teacher is asked to re-type the school work for each student so that when evaluation time comes, the program is up to par with the districts requirements. Many of these students are left back, and the reason is that the teacher has to spend so much time correcting and re-typing each report, test, homework, classwork etc. they have no time to actually teach their children! It is frustrating to the teachers and upsetting because number one, they are not making a difference in the students life, and number two these children are suffering because of it. Teachers are so limited to what they can say and do about these circumstances, I'm hoping that one day teachers will be able to say something and really be able to make a change.

Martha Martha Martha
I can't express how much I want to be like Martha! I absolutely love her magazine. This months issue features gift ideas which are homemade. The idea is using old sweaters, felting them, and then sewing stuffed animals, hats, gloves etc.
Check out this really cute hat.

I have the perfect sweater that I mistakenly dried and it shrunk to fit my 3 year old Happy

I've dressed to impress! Oh Yes, did I mention... I'm ovulating
Ok, so not sure where these people really get there info from, but I sure know that when I am ovulating I'm certainly not dressing on the prowl! Normally when I am ovulating I'm just beginning to bloat, I'm tired and cranky and stuffing my face. So why in the world would I be dressing sexy? As a matter of fact I know I dress in sweats, and wear my trusty baseball cap. How about you? Has anyone paid attention to their dressing habits during this time?

Is 3 really better than 1 or 2?
I started watching my sisters 2.5 month old daughter last week. Now, I have read and even spoken to people who say the more kids you have the easier it gets. Well, when I first had Paige I obviously thought it was hard. I was a first time mom with no experience at all, not even as a babysitter. But things got easier and I adjusted. Then we had Rylan, and boy oh boy - it definitely didn't get any easier, especially at the beginning because I just couldn't handle juggling two kids and Rylan NEVER slept or napped. But things got easier and I adjusted. Well a third has entered our home for the daytime hours, and can I say it has been easier then ever! Paige is completely and utterly into her cousin Claudia. She has to be next to her at all time and being a little mommy is her playtime dream come true. She plays with Rylan when I need to feed or change her, oh and did I mention all this little munchkin does is eat and sleep? She makes no peeps unless she's hungry. I sure hope that I am not jinxing this blessing.
Never in a million years did I think I would be doing this for a living. I worked in a huge company, had long hours and loved what I did. When I decided to stay home my whole world changed and life turned around. I'm more focused on doing things for kids now. I enjoy it! I'm stressed about 70% of the time, but it is totally worth it. I shouldn't really say stressed because many people see stress as being a horrible thing, but if there is such thing as a good stress - then this is it. I have many plans ahead of me and plan to continue with my everyday ideas and new adventures that I know will take me to many levels of success. So with that said,-- THANK YOU! to my two beautiful girls and Thank you to my darling niece who have helped me realize that there are so many new successes out there without having to be stuck in an office building.

Creative Little Hands is today! Halloween Spider
MATERIALS:
Pipe cleaners
Four-hole buttons
Stick-on googly eyes
Synthetic spider web
Double-sided tape

1. Bend a pipe cleaner into a V shape. Push the base of the V up through one of the buttonholes until it protrudes 1/2 inch. Then, bend the 1/2-inch length over the top of the button. Use the same method to thread the three other pipe cleaners through the remaining buttonholes.

2. Next, shape the legs (there should be eight, of course!) by bending the pipe cleaner ends first 1 inch from the button and then again 1/4 inch from the tips. Stick the googly eyes onto the button between the front legs.

Vacation Planning Time is here
Remember the days when the idea of a vacation was you and that special someone lounging on the beach with a nice ice cold drink? Do those vacations exist anymore? Probably not, these days the idea of a vacation is you and probably 3 other very loud people. Yes I’m talking about you, the hubby or wife and a few little ones running around. These days a vacation can mean your current life savings, but if you look hard enough you can probably find a fun vacation lurking not too far away. This year we’ve decided to travel to Florida and hit Disney for a few days. Vacation is about the family having fun, forgetting about chores and just being plain old silly. I can remember my first trip to Florida, I drove down with my husband and sister, I was 17 and it wasn’t all about Disney. It was late nights, beach drinking and sun bathing. 10 years later, we’ll be making that same trip except 2 little very excited girls will be tagging along and waiting to meet Mickey and Goofy. Aghhh, a vacation long awaited…Florida Holidays

Red's Review Blogjolt
Wow, it was really refreshing to see that someone out there, a man, feels the way we women often feel. Earl's post on A Loving Family, rings so true to how I feel with my family. Always running around, cleaning up, cooking dinner, making breakfast, getting snacks, and well you know the rest. You feel like that's all there is to life at that point in time. So often I find myself sad and alone missing my family even though they are right there in front of me. I feel disconected and out of the picture. Well with all this running around and craziness, I should be thankful that I have them and they are there for me. My children are still so very young to understand how life can sometimes mean not playing and being silly. I need to just leave the dirty dishes alone, keep the beds messy for a day and just roll around with them all.

Thanks for opening my eyes a little wider Earl!

Organize from the start

I'm not one to really talk about organization, I must admit that I am terrible at it. But I am trying, I really really am. I came across this fantastic site- organizedfromthestart. They sell this very savvy baby briefcase which organizes all the essentials.
Your BabyBriefcase® contains:
• Frosted plastic carrying case with handle and sturdy click and snap closure, 11-7/8" wide, 9-3/4" tall, and 1-3/4" deep, can accommodate many standard letter-size file folders
• 15 durable letter-size frosted plastic folders in yummy periwinkle, mint green, and peach
• 20+ preprinted and customizable folder categories
• Thank You Note Tracker
• 2 Baby Wallet Info Cards
• Framed Photo Pocket
• Convenient Pen Slot

There are so many things you will be collecting before the birth and after, from labor and delivery information to birth certificates and social security cards - It's best to keep all this stuff in one place where you're not scrambling in the draws to find them. Take it from me, start early and you'll be ahead.
