BlogJolt: Did Dick & Jane Run Away? :
While reading Holly's Corner Blog I came across a great post, Did Dick and Jane Run Away? She makes some great points about school today. I've been struggling with what will be best for my daughter who is 3.5 right now. Checking out all the schools in the area, reviewing test scores, parent participation, etc. I have a friend who is teaching in a neighborhood where 80% of the students come from a household who doesn't even speak english, so you can imagine how difficult it is for the child to learn. Well getting to the point, the teacher is asked to re-type the school work for each student so that when evaluation time comes, the program is up to par with the districts requirements. Many of these students are left back, and the reason is that the teacher has to spend so much time correcting and re-typing each report, test, homework, classwork etc. they have no time to actually teach their children! It is frustrating to the teachers and upsetting because number one, they are not making a difference in the students life, and number two these children are suffering because of it. Teachers are so limited to what they can say and do about these circumstances, I'm hoping that one day teachers will be able to say something and really be able to make a change.

Red's Review Blogjolt
Wow, it was really refreshing to see that someone out there, a man, feels the way we women often feel. Earl's post on A Loving Family, rings so true to how I feel with my family. Always running around, cleaning up, cooking dinner, making breakfast, getting snacks, and well you know the rest. You feel like that's all there is to life at that point in time. So often I find myself sad and alone missing my family even though they are right there in front of me. I feel disconected and out of the picture. Well with all this running around and craziness, I should be thankful that I have them and they are there for me. My children are still so very young to understand how life can sometimes mean not playing and being silly. I need to just leave the dirty dishes alone, keep the beds messy for a day and just roll around with them all.

Thanks for opening my eyes a little wider Earl!

Goals, Goals, Goals
Jill Koenig, who is the Goal Guru and a best selling author on goals and time management has a wonderful blog, Goal Guru. She is also the author of "The Time Commandments". Jill Koenig, a motivational speaker, pinpoints the number ONE problem people run into when starting a business, setting GOALS. It is so important to set your goals and follow them. In her post about Time Management, she mentions that "You cannot succeed in one without also succeeding in the other", Goal Setting and Time Management. How often have you written down your list of goals, only to find that you have written that list down, oh, about 10 times already? and maybe if you're lucky you've crossed 2 off that list? I have a major problem with goals, I just can't seem to follow them, and my number one issue is my time management. Before I know it the day is gone. "The #1 habit for effectiveness is to become conscious of where you are investing your time... all day long. Everyday." for more information on Time Management check out Jill's website, Goal Guru.

5 Easy Steps to Help Build Self Esteem
In reading Aurelia Williams' Blog, I came across an entry that I know I need to work with, 5 Easy Steps to Help Build Self Esteem. So often I find myself looking down and feeling down in the dumps about certain struggles I go through, whether it be parenting, finances, work etc. there is always a part of me that forgets to remember how worth it I really am. Her 5 steps is something I know that I can benefit from everyday in my life, and although I know my self-esteem isn't always down in the dumps- following these five rules will help me stay up there and holding on to what I have and what I am. I know that when I start to look down on myself and the situations surrounding me they begin to create a ball of frustration that continues to grow and grow. I've learned that beleiveing in myself and turning things into positive outlooks I am able to turn my unwanted situation into a great one. Thanks for reminding me to think positive Aurelia!

On, Of Fish and Family: Taking Turns
How often have we caught ourselves getting so annoyed and boiled at the tiniest thing our spouse may do. So many of these minuscule things have caused us frustration, and arguments that are better left alone. In a post I read from Margo's blog Of Fish and Family, she comments on a morning out and a small interruption in her husbands morning that caused a bit of annoyance. She mentions that in order for your marriage to succeed you have to compromise. She is absolutely right, if you think about it that's what marriage is all about, compromise. You may think that a small change you make in your spouses routine is nothing, but to them you have stepped on toes and disrupted their day. Compromise and realize the things that are important to them may not be to you, but because we love them we accept the things they do.

Solutionsforbusymoms blog: story time solution
I've been reading this wonderful blog: solutionsforbusymoms I cam across this fantastic site which Sarah mentions called storynory.com They provide children's audio available for download and it's free! You can even download to your iPod. I was so excited when I found her post that I went right to the site and downloaded every single one of these stories. There are only so many hours in the day that you can listen to "the wheels on the bus" over and over again. My daughter is going to absolutely love this. Thanks Sarah! I know I'll be visiting your blog daily for more busy mom solutions.
